Important Firefox Updates Available

Mozilla, the organization that maintains the Firefox browser, has released patches for several critical security vulnerabilities in both versions 2 and 3 of the browser.

If you have your browser set to automatically check for updates (the default setting), it will automatically download the update and you will be prompted to install it. The new version numbers are 2.0.0.19 and 3.0.5, for versions 2 and 3 respectively.

The new versions fix 3 critical security bugs in version 3 and 4 critical security bugs in version 2.

The other significant information that came with these updates is that this is the last planned update Mozilla will release for version 2.  Therefore, unless you have a good reason for remaining on version 2, I strongly recommend upgrading to Firefox version 3.
