- Buy a lock for your laptop computer
- Use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer
- Use Thunderbird instead of Outlook Express
- Install the Noscript plugin in Firefox
- Use strong, hard-to-crack, passwords
- Switch to Linux or a Mac for your business
- Verify your credit card payment application is PCI PA-DSS compliant
- Verify you are not storing any PCI-prohibited data (e.g., magnetic stripe , CVV codes, track data etc)
- Talk to your insurance broker about your coverage for damage due to a computer intrusion (liability, business interruption, recovery costs)
- Don’t send sensitive data unencrypted in e-mail messages or over instant messengers
- Use a password manager like Keepass to store your passwords
